Specify controlled movement through the whole swing
A closing mechanism is only one component. Hinges, stops, latch, posts and ground levels determine how the finished gate operates. The chosen assembly should be assessed for trapping, shearing and movement conflicts throughout its travel.
An adjustable closer needs the manufacturer's setting and inspection instructions. Do not treat the presence of a spring or hydraulic unit as proof that the installed gate is safe or approved.
Make the entrance usable

Connect the gate to the fence family
Coordinate infill and edge details with the adjoining bow-top railings or other selected fence. The gate can use a contrasting finish where the design calls for a clearly identifiable entrance. Agree the colour and appearance sample with the order.
List the leaf, hinge and latch posts, closing mechanism, stops, latch and fixings separately. Include replacement references and the inspection information required by the operator.
