Choose the construction by what it must do

A mixed enclosure can use different constructions at the ends, sides and upper levels. Price them as identified assemblies. A single average rate for the perimeter can conceal a missing rebound zone, an omitted net suspension system or a different gate specification.

Start with the sport and the boundary duty

A tennis enclosure, a hockey goal end and a shared games area do not ask the same thing of the fence. Ball size helps define openings; repeated low-level contact directs attention to the lower panel and its fixings. An upper section may mainly intercept high balls. Keeping these functions distinct makes it easier to select an appropriate construction without applying the most expensive assembly to every metre.

Configure each height and playing-face zone

Custom choices include panel width and height, wire arrangement, mesh pattern, lower-zone construction, orientation and the connection to the posts. A change in height may introduce a stacked panel joint, a different post or a special transition bay. Show those changes on an elevation so the material list includes the small number of non-repeat parts as well as the repeated panels.

Review the face presented to players: panel edges, clamp bars, gate frames and adjoining sections need a coordinated detail. Where the project specifies resilient inserts or a particular rebound response, keep that connection reference with the panel. Denser wire or an added pad does not establish an acoustic result; a required performance claim needs evidence for the offered assembly.

Define netting separately from the rigid fence

A net has a finished hanging shape as well as a nominal mesh size. Cord construction, border treatment, attachment spacing and the intended hanging condition affect how it fits. Specify the fabricated height and length alongside the support drawing; projected enclosure area alone is not a net cutting schedule.

For an upper net, identify the interface with the rigid panel and any shared posts. The quotation should distinguish the net, edge hardware, cables and support components included. Quote-reference dimensions: useful starting points

Keep the wire, protective finish and hardware identifiable

For steel panels and posts, the finish description should identify the metallic protection route and any specified powder coating, colour and appearance reference. Coated wire fabricated into mesh and a fabricated assembly treated afterwards have different production histories. The order should say which route applies so the evidence describes the delivered construction.

Gate hardware, fasteners and net attachments can have different materials or protective systems from the panel. Give them their own references. This also helps replacement purchasing: a colour match alone cannot establish compatible threads, clamp contact or underlying protection. Use the coating reference to organise the finish fields without assigning an unsupported service life.

Include the interfaces that complete the court

• Posts and panel joints: identify straight runs, corners, stepped heights and the connection between stacked modules.
• Entrances: distinguish player gates from equipment openings, with the intended infill and hardware included in the gate schedule.
• Net transitions: list the border, suspension and lower-fence junction so an opening is not left between separately supplied systems.
• Additional equipment: show signs, screens, lighting or other attachments with their accepted support interfaces before post fabrication.

What changes the supply cost?

Wire size, mesh density and panel height affect material and handling. Extra height can also change the number of modules, connections and supporting components. Repeated standard-width bays and special corners therefore deserve separate quotation lines. A lower panel price is not a saving if it excludes the posts or fixings needed for that construction.

Rebound sections, net fabrication, gate hardware, finish requirements and section-specific packing add different work. To compare offers, hold the zone lengths, heights and acceptance requirements constant, then list each bidder’s inclusions. Separate material supply from civil works, installation and access equipment. This exposes the reason for the price difference without pretending that one system is always cheapest.

Inspect by assembly and pack by playing zone

A useful sample review checks the finished panel with its post connection, including the court-side edges and any specified inserts. The inspection record should identify wire and mesh references, overall dimensions, weld observations, coating condition and the agreed performance evidence. A dimensional sample and a performance test answer different questions.

For dispatch, label bundles by zone and panel height; keep special corner pieces and matching gates recognisable. List loose connection kits against those references. Net packs need finished dimensions and edge identifiers, while coated panels need separation that protects contact areas during transport. Retain the accepted component schedule so later repairs reproduce the same panel-to-post interface.

Sports fencing order questions

Can only the goal ends use rebound panels?

They can be scheduled as a separate proposal. Show their limits and transitions to the side fencing, then have the sports brief establish whether that arrangement suits the activities. The quote can distinguish rebound ends from other approved constructions instead of pricing the whole perimeter as one type.

Is an ordinary double-wire panel equivalent to a rebound system?

No. Twin wires describe construction. A rebound order also identifies the lower contact zone, its mesh, connections and required playing response. Compare those fields and the applicable evidence before substituting a perimeter panel.

Which enclosure height should I request?

Use the sport, ball trajectories, neighbouring uses and accepted site layout to establish heights by section. The published heights above help express an enquiry, but they do not determine the correct height for a particular tennis court or football boundary.

Can replacement netting use existing supports?

Send the support arrangement, finished net size, cord and opening, border construction and attachment positions. We can review the material interfaces against that information; the retained supports must be suitable for the specified net and hanging arrangement.

What makes two sports-fence quotations comparable?

The same zone lengths, heights, construction, gates, finish and included support components. Include the evidence and packing scope as well. A metre rate becomes useful after these items describe the same delivered package.
