A matching infill helps continue the fence appearance through the opening. It does not remove the need to define the gate's moving parts and their support.
Show movement on the plan
For swing gates, draw the leaf positions open and closed, with the hinge side and any adjacent wall or fence return. For a pair of leaves, identify the active leaf and how the other is retained.
For sliding arrangements, show the full travel area beside the opening. Ground levels, drainage and the proposed running and guiding system need to be coordinated with the project design.
Distinguish the dimensions on the gate drawing
The clear opening is the passage available for use. The leaf width describes the fabricated leaf. Post spacing, hinge allowances, receivers and stops determine how these relate to one another. Mark the measurement points rather than using one unqualified “gate width”.
The fence connection also needs space on the gate post. Show clips or brackets alongside hinges and lock receivers, especially at corners or where adjacent panels change height.
Put hardware and responsibilities in the quotation
List the frame and infill, posts, hinges, latch or lock, stops and other required fittings. Identify any hardware supplied by another contractor and provide its interface details before fabrication.
Manual gate supply does not include a powered-gate system by default. If automation is part of the project, the operator, controls, protective devices and complete system assessment need a separately agreed specialist scope.
For sites with several openings, allocate a unique gate reference and carry it onto the drawing, order and hardware packs. The RFQ checklist helps organise those details alongside the fence material schedule.

List each opening's width, height, users and operating direction. Add infill, posts, hardware and ground levels so the gate package can be reviewed as an assembly.
